The Role
I enjoyed working with a number of client teams which gave me experience of a number of sectors. Having such a wide base of experience definitely has definitely helped me in my ongoing career
Everyone that I worked with was very friendly and always seemed grateful for the work I did for them. They were generally perceptive to questions I had and were willing to explain why the work I was being asked to do was important or needed to be done, which often helped with some of the new mundane tasks that you do.
The teams and managers that I works for most were very supportive throughout my internship. They were keen to make sure that if I wanted to learn more about a particular client or piece of work, then they would explain it in full.
I was often very busy, but people were always very accommodating and flexible when asking for work to be done and I never felt pressured to take on tasks with unrealistic targets or that I did not have time to do.
As I gained experience, I was given greater levels of responsibility In certain areas which was very rewarding.
I feel my time at Luther served me incredibly well in my ongoing career. The role that I filled there gave me the confidence and a level of experience to move on to a permanent communications role. During my time there, my mentors and colleagues were always open to giving help, advice and guidance for which I am very grateful.
The Company
Everyone was friendly and open. I made a lot of friends, many of whom I am still in touch with. Being an office that deals with current affairs and politics, there is often healthy debate to be found
Whilst I had a mentor whose teams I did most of my work for, I would receive requests to join teams or help out on projects on a fairly ad hoc basis. This was never a problem though as people would be understanding if I had other commitments. The company was also very interested to hear my thoughts on how the internship programme could be altered or improved.
My superiors were very keen to help and guide my development. I was allowed to attend external events, conferences and lectures and similarly go to meetings to better my understanding of the industry and working practices.
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
Unfortunately there was not the chance to embark on a full time role during my time at Luther, colleagues were instrumental in helping me obtain my current position, recommending me for the role and assisting me to prepare my application and for the interview process.
The Culture
I am still friends with some of my fellow interns, as the company was very welcoming to include us in social events and gatherings.
As it was Central London, fairly expensive, as to be expected. People were often very kind in making sure interns did not feel left out of the social side of the company however.
Pretty fun, some good (and not so good!) pubs, restaurants and clubs.
I was ofteninvited to be involved in 'out of the office' activites and was very much made to feel a part of the office.
