    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

    • I enjoyed meeting people at the firm but with not much work to do for the first half I found it difficult to enjoy.

    • Sometimes very much so. At other times it was clear people would rather I didn't ask for work.

    • But I wasn't expecting to gain skills for my degree from a transactional seat.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?

    • All the activities were made clear to us in advance. We knew exactly where to be and when to be there.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?

    • A few fun things happened but I heard people talk about the firm being friendly and welcoming more than I saw it.

    • Nothing was specifically aimed at my development.

    • I saw a lot of what trainees and associates do on a day to day basis.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?

    • Lots of people talked about how friendly and approachable everybody is. That's not what I saw for a lot of my time at the firm. That's left me wondering to what extent that culture exists or if it is just hard to experience the culture in only 2 weeks at the firm.

    • I felt it was very important to spend time at the firm in order to decide if I would like to work there.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

    • Got £700 for the two weeks-the same as I've got from other firms.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?

    • I met the trainees with vacation scheme buddies but there was no opportunity to meet associates or partners.

    • A good opportunity to talk to trainees but nothing special.

    • Was invited to play with the firm's tag rugby team.

    • It's always useful to see a firm before you commit to a training contract there.
