The Role
Overall, my placement year at IBM was a fantastic experience which has opened many doors for me and my future career. Before coming to IBM I did not understand what I wanted to do as career after my degree. However with IBM being such a big company and having the ability to build a network and initiate conversations and shadowing opportunities, I have been able to discover my career path with the assistance of friendly and approachable employees. In addition, the mass amount of interns was great, as it felt as it was another year at University with there being the social side as well as the work experience. Even though I had to complete some boring admin tasks, the opportunities given once I had gained the trust of my managers, were just what I was looking for as they were more hands on tasks and did feel as if I was adding value rather than 'just an intern'. Would definitely recommend for any University placement student!
