About You
I really enjoyed my placement at Deloitte since I learned a lot during my stay and I had a great time in general. Besides, I now have a much better understanding of where I want to put my focus later in my career. I would totally recommend anybody who is interested in finance and markets in general to to the same internship as me.
I felt really valued in my internship since everybody was quite friendly and helped me along with most of my tasks. Nobody was ever mad at me even when I did a major mistake. People were even keen on networking with me and invited me for lunch. Besides, my work was appreciated and my research was actually used as the basis for others.
Guidance is a difficult word. As I said, people were happy to help. Furthermore, goals were clearly defined. However, I was free to solve problems and tasks however I want, and I see this as very a positive aspect as you cannot develop as a person unless you face difficulties.
The skills I learned are definitely valuabe for my later career. Basically, I lowered entry barriers to nearly zero for this specific industry, not because I know everything but rather because I know how people think and act and above all because I have an overview and know how to acquire skills fast. The skill to get skills is invaluable.
The Company
The insight was really structured. I had a clear schedule, so I always knew what to do a which time without anyone telling me. However, I was also free to reschedule tasks myself as soon as I got trust from my team. So in total, I the whole organisation was great.
I was very surprised about the general atmosphere at EY. I heard from experiences from other students that the atmosphere will boring and nothing exciting. Yet I have met incredible smart people who were working for EY or joined the Programme as well. Hence, in my view the atmosphere was awesome.
In my opinion the company put in a lot of effort to give us a great experience. I learned a lot about what it is like to work full-time at a company (it was my first time working ever), I gained a better understanding of what factors can affect a company and what steps I have to take in the future if I want to be part of Accenture.
Being present at the company itself, talk to people at EY and to listen to their company presentation definitely helped me to gain an understanding of what it would be like to work for EY. However, I am not sure if I can say now if I want to work there later but it was a great impression nevertheless.
The insight was well designed and helped me a lot to gain an understanding of the culture at KMPG. The internship was only for a few days but it was enough to sense those things. I would have never gained this insight from reading reviews on the internet, it is something you have to experience.
Everything Else
Yes, for sure! Anyone who thinks about going into finance will love this internship and will broaden your horizon. Furthermore, you can build great relationships and build up your network. It will be only interesting for people who plan to pursue a career in finance but it is still a great opportunity to meet motivated individuals.
