    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed my placement at Lloyds a lot since some part of my relatives have worked their over the course of their lives and it is one of the largest auditing companies in the world. Everybody was friendly and the work environment was – despite Lloyds rather conservative nature – quite relaxed.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • On the whole I felt really valued in my firm. I knew that the work environment at banks is rather busy and that I would be left alone with a lot of tasks. Nevertheless, I had somebody to contact with whatever issue I had and my work was respected as I tried to put in 100% of effort.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received a lot of support and guidance during my internship. I had a contact person which was always happy to help in any regards, Even when I asked about topics unrelated to our field of action, I received thotough answers, explanations and insights. Of course, this always depends on the type of contact person which is assigned to you.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I gained will help me a lot during my studies, especially since I want to specialise in accounting and taxation. I am sure I will have an edge over those who did not complete such an internship. Besides, you should not forget the value that lies in having found your passion. Without my placement at Lloyds Banking Group I would still not know what to do later in my career.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The structure of my insight was good. Communication and information flow were well organised and I did not face a work overload. On the one hand, I was required to work really hard, but as soon as I people realised that I put in all possible effort, people began to trust me and grant me more freedom.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • "The atmosphere was quite competitive as you would expect from an internship at a prestigious bank. Everyone was trying to show leadership during group tasks which is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. Nevertheless, everyone was not arrogant or anything like that. We all networked with each other and I made some friends which I’ll probably stay longer in contact with. "

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • This internship prepared a very well and it was great to see the amount that the company invested into us. The employees were very happy to take their time and to talk with us and to answer our questions. Furthermore, the activities and presentation were really helpful to answer the questions I had regarding a career at Lloyds.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • "Being present at the company itself, talk to people at Lloyds and to listen to their company presentation definitely helped me to gain an understanding of what it would be like to work for Lloyds Bank. However, I am not sure if I can say now if I want to work there later but it was a great impression nevertheless. "

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The company culture is great and full of passion and motivation. It makes you better person and gives you an incentive to become better. Everyone is extremely talented and smart. But this is exactly the culture or environment you want to be. If you talk with employees or play close attention it will more than enough to gain an understanding of the culture.

Especially for us first year students it is a great opportunity to experiment and see what we like or what we do not like. "
