The Role
It was a fantastic experience and looks great on CV!
Everyone was very supportive and helpful, as well as very friendly.
I had a mentor and manager, and I was also guided by other senior staff.
More busy in the second half of the placement, since I had had all my training and was given projects to run.
I was in charge of my own projects, which along with projects of others were supervised by the project manager overall.
I have started a PhD now, and I have been using all the tips, tricks and skills I learnt, plus, learning the use of the equipment in the lab meant I am now given a part time job in the university to run the equipment in the lab.
The Company
A good balance of fun, and quite environment to work in.
Many students are taken on every year, so they are quite organised in recruiting them.
I was sent to a conference in London once. I was also given thorough training on use of equipment, report writing etc in the company.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I have a PhD that is part sponsored by them, but I know they had many contractor positions that they would be happy to recruit me on.
The Culture
We had some events organised throughout the year between students in different departments.
Leeds is an economic city- cheaper than london!
There are two universities in Leeds, so the city has a great night life.
some volunteering to build a school playground in local school... I also went to an orthopaedic conference in London.
