The Role
I enjoyed my placement very much. It would have been better if there was more work to do, however, there is often little work in the summer.
I felt valued by all of my colleagues and I felt that I was an important part of the team.
My manager has always given me the support that I've needed when I've needed it. If I was unsure about a certain work related problem, they would be there to assist me in taking the best course of action.
There were many days where I did not have any work to do which was irritating as not only was it boring but it also looks as though I am not being productive.
I was given the opportunity to manage/supervise individuals so that a job could be completed. I felt I was given a large amount of responsibility by being in charge of issuing work to a client.
The skills that I have learned here at work will stay with me and assist me throughout my remaining years at University. I have gained many computer related skills and also management skills whilst I have been here.
The Company
The atmosphere was of a typical office space where people were working hard but also taking the time to socialise with each other without the feeling of being judged for not doing work for a brief moment. The atmosphere was a healthy and happy one.
The work placement was relatively well organised, however, it took a long time to be properly enrolled onto the system to be able to carry out work.
The company has a variety of training courses that they encourage you to go on and although my placement was short, there was still the urge from the company to help me develop my skills and abilities further.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
I hope to have a job with the company after I have graduated from university.
The Culture
There was a bit of social scene amongst fellow placement students/colleagues, however this was not very large and took a lot of planning and organisation.
I personally only got involved in one social activity outside of work as there were not very many that I was interested in on offer.
