The Role
I've had a very positive experience.
I felt very valuable in terms of being part of the community, however understandably my work was not as valued as say a graduate etc.
Faultless support by the internal graduate team.
This could vary significantly from day-to-day but on average it worked out at appropriate levels.
I was the primary mechanical engineer on one of my jobs.
Developed technical writing skills significantly, as well as a robust understanding of a range of engineering standards. Very valuable experience.
The Company
The atmosphere is very relaxed and its much more community cultured than office culture.
In general very well organized.
The basic training was provided in order for me to complete my job but limited training above and beyond this. This is different in a graduate role though.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Reasonably appealing, Within this office it appears there isn't significant room to grow but at a corporate level I'm assured there is more.
The Culture
Very well organized social scene
My rent (Derby) was around £440 a month but upon arriving I learned this is very high for the area. Cost of socializing was reasonably low compared to most nearby cities. If I were to repeat this experience the rental costs could be much lower.
A grand total of one nightclub- not a good one. but the bars nearby were very nice and cheap!
Outside of work based activities, this was limited.
