The Role
I really enjoyed by internship, I got to put things into practice that I learnt during the year as well as meet people in industry at different stages of their professional development.
I was given real work and not just practice programs. Got my name on official drawings and given praise for the work I did.
Everyone is very patient and willing to help. They don't just expect you to know what you're doing so will sit with you until you get it if that's what you need or just let you get on with it if you're capable.
Most days I'm very busy doing lots of drawings but there are sometime slow periods usually between finishing one project and starting another.
I was given responsibility over the drawings I was doing, however I had people who checked my work and told me what needs changing. This is normal unless you are the approver of the drawings.
I've learnt skills and software that will give me a head start in my future career.
The Company
The office has a great atmosphere. People talking and joking occasionally and there's usually treats and cake about. Things can get busy towards deadlines but that's expected.
As there isn't a structure and you're just a member of the team it can vary. Projects are usually very organised once you know what you're doing.
I was taught to use different programs I'd never heard of and given work to help develop my understanding of it. Time was taken to explain anything I didn't understand.
Company Parties/Events
Many graduates started with internships so there's a good chance of future employment
The Culture
There's often social events from bowling to sports matches. There's also a Ping-Pong table in the chill out area, birthdays are often celebrated and socialising is encouraged.
There's many places to eat and drink with a range of prices. As it's London, travel can be expensive.
I never used the nightlife but I've heard theres many great places to go out.
Yes, there was a bowling match and a Volleyball match during the 9 weeks I was there.
