The Role
I loved my placement! The support and guidance you are given throughout the year, as well as the numerous opportunities and knowledge, have allowed me to progress and mature.
Since my first day within Digital Business Services, my team have made me feel like a key valued member of the team and have provided me with experiences and opportunities of which I cannot thank them enough for.
The whole team, Including management, were all very supportive throughout my internship. My manager provided 1 to 1 sessions on a monthly basis to ensure I was happy with everything and also helped me in gaining opportunities within the team. Other stakeholders were also very supportive in ensuring that guidance was given throughout to help me progress.
My schedule was usually busy but if this ever changed the team would always provide me with opportunities to work in other areas to fill the space. My managers were also very helpful in ensuring that my workload wasn't too high during my first few weeks of my internship.
The responsibility I was given was perfect. It allowed me to be a key asset to the team whilst also having the help from Senior management if I needed it.
The knowledge and opportunities I have gained will not only help me in my final year in Computer Science but have also allowed me to understand the areas of work within the IT industry that I would like to pursue. As well as this, a member of the team has been very helpful in helping me to structure my University final year project/dissertation which will deep dive into creating a Secure IIOT device for Predictive Maintenence.
The Company
A large majority of the team working onsite at customers. However, the team love to have a laugh and made it great when not everyone was in which made working very fun.
Very well organised.
HR/ Intern Development Team was supposed to put on 3 Development sessions throughout the year of where we would learn to present and other things. However only one of these took place during the internship which was a shame.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Very appealing.
The Culture
Most interns went out and socialised throughout the week which was always good.
It's London so it's not cheap but doable.
The nightlife is pretty non-existant so you would usually travel to Richmond for a night out or central London.
Yes, Rugby Tournaments and the Football team.
