The Role
Had a great team who valued my help and made sure they gave me a variety of tasks as well as tasks that I excelled in
They respected when I took a while to grasp onto certain new concepts and appreciated when I could do tasks for them. Were also friendly
I had one-to-ones with my manager aswell as my mentor (who delegated me my tasks) every week which were very helpful
Some days I would be extremely busy but I was happy to have tasks to do every day rather than be bored
I was seen as one of the team members rather than just an intern. I was in charge of training the new Indian team members that joined our sub-team half way through my placement
I've learnt a far broader set of skills than my university degree could teach. As well as expanding my technical knowledge I've learnt how to work well in a professional group environment
The Company
I my team there was a good atmosphere, however some of the other teams had a few change arounds in the year I was here.
My manager and mentor worked very well with eachother to assign me tasks. I was also trained my the older intern for the first month I started and had the graduate in my team to ask for help when I didn't want to ask my mentor or manager
In my team they've put a lot of effort into making sure I learn the correct things which would bring advantage to not only them but also me as well.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Working from home
I have taken a part time job with the company while I complete my final year and my team have made it very clear that they'd want to hire me as a graduate
The Culture
Interns had lunch together every day and would have a weekly meeting to catch up on how each other were finding our placements
Bristol is more expensive than the average city, but is worth it for the atmosphere of the city
Bristol has a great student life and so the nightlife is very good
I got involved in promoting HPE internships to my university (UWE) and the intern group got to do a lot of mini and one big charity events
