The Role
I really enjoyed working for Grant Thornton throughout the year and am returning on the graduate programme after finishing my final year of university.
The best part of working at Grant Thornton is the people. Everyone is very friendly, supportive and always willing to go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and involved.
Support is provided from day 1 and you are always made to feel you can ask anyone for guidance and support from your colleagues.
There is always something someone needs help with, whether its doing the odd additional bit of work on a client or working on the same client for 4 weeks in a row.
From day one I was trusted with contributing to audits and given individual areas to test. Of course this responsibility grew as I understood more and more but I was always trusted to get the job done.
I have left the placement year feeling that I have got the most out of each and every client I have worked on and will be returning to Grant Thornton to tackle more challenges after graduating from University.
The Company
Office atmosphere is always very relaxed and friendly - people are quite happy to have a chat with you in the kitchen and there is often people heading out for lunch who will invite you along.
The placement scheme is planned very well and is outlined clearly how to get the most out of it and how to get the offer for the graduate scheme when you come to the end.
I spent several weeks training down at Grant Thornton's training centre to learn the basics but in-charges on jobs are always friendly and always provide support to enable on-the-job training as well.

The Culture
There were many social events organised throughout the year and often people would invite me along for a drink after work.
