    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I had an absolutely fantastic year working at SAP for 13 months. I have met a lot of great people, developed many essential skills and gained valuable experience in Consulting Operations, Sales and Finance.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My team and colleagues who I liaised with on a daily basis have been extremely supportive and helpful throughout the year.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • If I had any issue or wasn't sure how to do something, my manager always made sure he will talk me through it and help me as much as he can. When you start your placement at SAP, you will always have a month of training by the intern you are replacing. My intern made sure that I have all the notes to complete my role and I understand what I need to do when he leaves. My supervisor has also set a number of goals for me to achieve by the end of the year and we have had weekly meetings to make sure I am in the right direction to accomplish them.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was mainly busy at the start of every month when I had to complete all the revenue file and forecasts for the upcoming month. However, SAP provides great opportunity to all the interns, to spend 30% of their time during the year getting involved in other projects in other departments, therefore you can always make sure you are busy when you have completed all the required work for your role.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lot of responsibility! My manager, my team and colleagues didn't treat me like an intern but rather expected for me to complete my work to a high standard.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe working at SAP for 13 months will definitely help me working long hours and handling large amount of work at University, especially during exam period and my dissertation. I have developed time management, organisational and presentation skills, which will be essential to achieve a First Class Honours in my degree. Furthermore, gaining experience in different sectors of the firm definitely helped me to realise what I would like to do as my future career.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • SAP assigns a group of interns as well as HR department to organise placement experience for all the interns. I think HR done a great job here and they made sure that we get a lot of experience and guidance throughout the year as well as get involved in many social events within the office and the intern group.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There is plenty of training available online as well as anyone has an opportunity to sign up for various workshops, which I help within the office.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • A lot of interns were offered to extend their contracts till the end of summer and some of the interns will be returning to SAP after they graduate. SAP doesn't have a specific grad scheme, however, if you do really well throughout the year and manage to impress your team/department, you have a high chance of being offered a job. However, after graduating everyone also have an opportunity to apply for the Sales Academy, where if successful candidates will be offered a job in Sales at SAP.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very good. SAP arranges Christmas party for all the employees in December. And all the teams always make sure they go out for dinners or drinks at the end of every quarter. Furthermore, all the interns are very sociable so this year we had a lot of parties, drinks and gatherings organised amongst ourselves.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It will always depend where you live. Some interns chose to live in Central London, which is obviously much more expensive and some interns decided to live not far from the office, therefore ended up paying a reasonable amount of money for rent and living.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Richmond is great for drinks and it is reasonably close to the office.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes. SAP offers all the employees an opportunity to get involved in charity work. Also interns can get involved in number of sport activities including football and netball. Some of the Sales interns had an opportunity to different cities for work including Barcelona, Dubai and Dublin.
