    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My role within SAP resulted in me having a large level of responsibility. I enjoyed this aspect as I felt I contributed to the business. Throughout the year I feel I have developed massively as an individual and will be a lot stronger when applying to jobs after I graduate

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • One of the great assets of SAP are the people who work at SAP. I found it very easy to talk to people regardless of seniority and was treated as a full time employee. However, it was often very difficult to get feedback within the team. As a result, I found it difficult to see how I was progressing and on what aspects I could improve over the year.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • It was often difficult to get feedback and support from my direct managers with regards to the activities carried out in my role. This made it difficult to assess my development over the year. However, when facing difficult situations, my managers were very supportive and I was able to rely on them to resolve any issues.

    2/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My role was very busy! Due to the large amount of responsibility SAP provides its interns I never found myself looking for things to do. As my role was entirely ad-hoc each day brought a new challenge. This helped to massively improve my time management, and organisational skills in a high pressured environment!

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My role was a pivotal aspect of the business, and I was relied upon heavily by managers in other departments to complete my task. The level of responsibility helped me to mature over the year and also made me feel valued in the business. I now feel confident and ready to take on any role after I graduate!

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My role wasn't linked to my university degree. However, I never would've imagined to gain as much knowledge as I did this year. The soft skills obtained, such as time management, organisation, and presentation skills will no doubt aid me in my future career. I have also been able to massively improve my Excel skills. I believe the placement year at SAP has left me in a good position for when I graduate.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was relaxed and made it easy to settle into the role. Everyone at SAP is friendly and easy to talk to which is very important when you are a new faced intern! There are always events and activities going on in the office which makes each day enjoyable and not boring.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship programme is ran by the interns from the previous year. The placement is 13 months within your role and 30% to spend time shadowing and doing additional activities. This allowed you to gain the most from your role and also gave you the option to learn more about other departments to get a better idea of what you want to do once you graduate.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Due to having 30% of your time to focus on other parts of the business you are able to discover what you may be interested in the future. There are no training courses given to you directly in the role, however you are able to take up training courses if you wish to. Most of the development over the internship is down to you as an individual.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Above 25 days holiday

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • SAP does not currently have any graduate schemes. This makes it difficult for interns to return to the business unless they choose to go into the sales or presales academy. However, many past interns have returned to the business in full time roles, and as the business is always changing there are possibilities to return to SAP in the future.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There are over 40 interns at SAP within the same office. This meant there was a good vibe across the business and weekly socials amongst the intern.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As SAP is based in on the outskirts of London living costs are quite high.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • SAP is based in Feltham. Therefore most people commute to central London for social activities.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • SAP allows interns to spend 30% of their time to get involved in activities outside their daily roles. You have the option to get involved in charity events, social events, and many other activities. This allowed for a good balance between completing your daily role, and also taking part in other activities.
