About You
I enjoyed my placement at Accenture a lot since some part of my relatives have worked their over the course of their lives and it is one of the largest consulting companies in the world. Everybody was friendly and the work environment was – despite Accenture rather conservative nature – quite relaxed.
On the whole I felt really valued in my firm. I knew that the work environment at investment banks is rather busy and that I would be left alone with a lot of tasks. Nevertheless, I had somebody to contact with whatever issue I had and my work was respected as I tried to put in 100% of effort.
I received a lot of support and guidance during my internship. I had a contact person which was always happy to help in any regards, Even when I asked about topics unrelated to our field of action, I received thotough answers, explanations and insights. Of course, this always depends on the type of contact person which is assigned to you.
I am not sure if the knowledge I gained will help me with achieving better grades, since the insights I received are mainly of abstract nature and rather relate to soft skills. Furthermore, I was already capable of hard skills related to my studies. Still, the technical knowledge I gained, such as financial modelling, will definitely help me n my future career.
The Company
The structure of my insight was good. Communication and information flow were well organised and I did not face a work overload. On the one hand, I was required to work really hard, but as soon as I people realised that I put in all possible effort, people began to trust me and grant me more freedom.
I was very surprised about the general atmosphere at Accenture. I heard from experiences from other students that the atmosphere will boring and nothing exciting. Yet I have met incredible smart people who were working for Accenture or joined the Programme as well. Hence, in my view the atmosphere was awesome.
The internship put great emphasis on self-development and after my few days at Accenture I can definitely say that I have grown as an individual. I became more confident and worked on my soft skills which not only be helpful for my degree but also my personal life. The activities were specifically tailored to gain a great feel what it would be like to work at the company.
It has helped me a lot to decide what I want to do later in my life. I was not sure if I want to go into marketing, accounting or finance. Hence I gave it a shot to try out what a career is like in the consulting industry. Surprisingly I got the internship without much effort and I can envision a career at the company.
The insight was well designed and helped me a lot to gain an understanding of the culture at Accenture. The internship was only for a few days but it was enough to sense those things. I would have never gained this insight from reading reviews on the internet, it is something you have to experience.
Everything Else
I can definitely recommend this internship to anyone who is interested in a career in consulting. Everything was well explained and can give you the information you need to decide on whether you want to pursue a career or not. Especially for us first year students it is a great opportunity to experiment and see what we like or what we do not like.
