The Role
I enjoyed seeing the different departments at Grant Thornton and meeting lots of different people
Very valued, everyone seems to be on a level playing field no matter what age or job role
I was given lots of help with different tasks but also trusted to complete them independently and try to figure out issues on my own.
Perhaps could have been given more to do but tricky due to the time of year.
Quite a lot, had to organise a charity day and was given tasks to do with clients
It will aid me greatly in my future career due to having an insight into accounting and finance
The Company
Very friendly, there are hot desks where anyone can sit. You may find yourself sitting next to a partner some days even if you are an intern or new.
Fairly well structured however I was not told I would have to travel to the Oxford office which is a long commute and originally thought I'd have 3 weeks in tax when I only had 1
They were very good with this as you had a buddy and a people manager that you would sit down with and make goals for you to achieve in your internship. I also was amazed with the workshop at Bradenham manor working on my presentation skills which was really useful
Flexi Time
National Travel
Quite likely as it is such a friendly company
The Culture
Yes there were conferences and drinks arranged to meet other interns and placement students
I lived at home and Reading is fairly cheap to socialise in
Fairly good
Yes I was involved in a 'it's a knockout day' with other firms such as PwC and Urban scientists and also charity cake sales.
