The Role
work placement was really good. Learnt lots about the office environment and got a great idea on what area I would like to work in.
Given challenging tasks which made me feel valued as I had a lot of responsibilities.
My manager Tracey and Emma were extremely supportive. I felt comfortable asking them for help when I was stuck and they were always open for me to ask questions.
I always had tasks to be getting on with, but I never felt stressed due to having too much work.
I wasn't treated as in intern in my placement as they gave me responsibilities that permanent staff would have which I loved as it was very motivating as I felt like I was adding value.
Getting a first hand experience on how a business functions will be valuable in me in my studies as I have got a legitimate insight into business practices and can use Lloyds Banking group as an example. In terms of beyond I have gained valuable experience that allows me to be consciously competent in an office environment.
The Company
Office was lively and never dull. Full of personalities that made the time fly whilst also being professional.
From my line manager, the organisation was brilliant as I clearly knew what I had to get on with. In terms of from a recruitment perspective, the organisation of the information we were given could have been clearer.
Although I was only there for 10 weeks, I was required to complete the quarter 3 training that is necessary for all permanent staff. This was useful as it meant I was treated the same as the rest of the staff and I also learnt key business guidelines as a result.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Above 25 days holiday
The employment prospects are exciting within the organisation as there is a clear path onto the graduate scheme and beyond.
The Culture
Yes the social scene amongst the placement colleagues was good. I was situated in Leeds and there was a lot to do. Also the fact there is multiple interns in the building it meant we could all get close.
Leeds was very cheap. Their are lot of options, therefore you can do a variety of things.
I didn't go out too much, but from the times that I did I had a good time. Relatively cheap in comparison to my home time and their is a bigger variety of stuff to do.
Yes. Using the Hive site, I was able to join a football team where we played 11 a side matches which was fun.
