The Role
I really enjoyed working across the three teams. My colleagues really took me on board and were willing and engaging when I asked questions. I feel like I have been able to make a sizeable contribution to the bank and was given meaningful work. I would recommend the internship, and CB Data Services/Cyber Security!
The work I was given was useful to my colleagues and I was often asked if I was getting the most out of the work - I wasn't being used to just do the boring jobs nobody else wanted. My colleagues dialled me into various meetings and valued my comments and feedback I made. I was taken on board by the team and invited along to social events too.
My colleagues were sometimes quite busy which occasionally led to it being tricky in arranging times where we could look at a problem in depth. However, when we managed to find time together they were always willing to explain things to me and offer advice. They also asked me for my comments to try and identify if there were areas we could improve on something.
I could always find something to do and felt there was a good balance between amount of work to do and time offered for me to meet other colleagues or shadow in another department. I was given the opportunity to go out and search for jobs or tasks to do and was not just dumped with lots of boring admin work nobody else wanted to do.
I was treated like a regular employee and people took on board the work and comments I made. I was given projects to work on that actually made a difference to the team and got good feedback from my colleagues. I was able to work across different teams and people were always willing to show me something I might be interested in. I was given jobs and tasks that were actually engaging rather than tedious.
I feel like I have developed a greater understanding of banking and finance and had a really good experience with Lloyds. I believe my time management, leadership and reporting skills have all improved and I feel much more confident to go out and look for problems to solve, things to simplify and people to engage with. I would recommend working for Lloyds as they do treat you well!
The Company
We were a busy team so occasionally it was tricky to get hold of people, but we worked collaboratively when we could. I was often invited along to socials or to catch up over lunch or a coffee. I got the opportunity to work in Bristol as well as London, and in Bristol there was a much more relaxed environment - probably because of the layout of the office and because it wasn't quite so busy.
Right from the start I was given everything I needed to work and any permissions I sought I was given promptly. I had a clear set of tasks to get involved with straight away and my colleagues set aside time to show me what they wanted me to do. I don't feel like it could have been improved in any way on this front.
There was an online training portal which was really useful however it was very cumbersome and at times annoying to use. I feel like I could have been given slightly more personal training and perhaps time to discuss my career in general would have been very useful. However my team were very busy so I had to fit around business needs.

I really like the grad scheme and feel like it could stand me in good stead for my future career. I feel like the company actively engage with and look to recruit new talent and are keen to reward their employees for good work. The working environment is good and I enjoy the company and my colleagues so would consider working here in future.
The Culture
The social scene was as good as you made it, and because there were lots of other interns there was always something to do. There wasn't quite so much going on in my team as I was the only intern, however I understand there were bigger events/socials organised amongst other teams. So it was luck of the draw really. People were keen to organise things if you suggested it though.
London is expensive, but we got paid more for working here. I would advise budgeting but we were paid quite well and I managed to save money too. If you're savvy then you'll be fine, just don't eat at pret every lunch time and you'll be fine! We were put up in accommodation so we didn't have that cost either, so it was just food and drink we had to pay for.
really good, it's London so you can expect it to be good and we were put in accommodation near Kings Cross so it was easy to get around London on public transport. It would have been nice to be slightly closer to the east of London as that is where it's slightly cheaper and there are more bars to go to but as I said the transport links were good.
It really depended on your team really, as I know some people were offered a lot more than others. There are lots of things going on but it's just a question of knowing who to chat to about getting involved. We were welcome to go along though and people were keen to have extra people. It could have been slightly better organised in terms of making people aware as to what is going on.
