The Role
The people I worked with during my time here were all extremely kind, easy to get along with and willing to help. This meant that even though the area I was placed within was not the sort of area I would have chosen myself, I still ended up enjoying my work and felt like I gained a lot of useful workplace skills from my time here.
All of my colleagues were very positive about the work I was doing and we all got on very well together. This ensured that while I was there I actually felt like I was part of the team and was very welcome as opposed to being left much to myself like I know some of the other interns felt like in their teams. I do feel like the level to which people felt appreciated varied heavily depending on the team and that I just got lucky with mine however
Feedback is probably the area that has been strongest throughout my entire internship. An excellent balance has been maintained of simultaneously encouraging me to work independently and not need constant support while at the same time putting me in a place where I was always able to obtain guidance from any of my manager, team members or external colleagues. I had specific time allocated each week for a 1 to 1 with my line manager which was also an excellent source of support and guidance throughout.
The level to which I was busy throughout my placement fluctuated heavily. Some days provided the perfect balance of work from start to finish, some days (especially during the beginning) felt like I was doing very little but I was rarely put in a situation where I felt personally that I had been given an overwhelming amount of work which I was glad of.
I took part in many different tasks throughout the internship and was allowed to work independently on my tasks throughout and get on with my work. In this way I was given a lot of responsibility. At the same time as I was only an intern there is realistically only so much responsibility that I could be given with the importance of the tasks I was doing.
I would definitely say that This has been an immensely useful experience for me to do. My degree is in no way related to the work I was doing but indirectly this Internship has developed numerous transferrable skills (Presentation skills, Leadership, Team Working, Data Analysis etc.) that will serve me in good stead back at Uni and in later work endeavours
The Company
Within my team there was always a very informal, chatty and friendly tone maintained throughout ensuring that I enjoyed the day. The office as a whole (which is what I think this question is about) was still a very traditional office setting though meaning that nobody seemed miserable but it is still a professional environment meaning that it's obviously not all jokes and fun.
There were a few bumps initially with the internship a the very beginning (travel costs/ accommodation/ wage mistakes) but these were on the whole minor and while annoying at the start were sorted out very quickly. Once the internship fully got started, things were near enough seamless throughout although holiday booking was more difficult than necessary
There were a number of training courses that I completed throughout my time here which were the usual derivative mandatory training courses. Apart from these I did not really do any other specific training courses and this was more gained on the job from help from colleagues. Overall I would say there was lots of development and training but not due to company investment as such

The Organisation has very promising employment prospects within them due to them also offering a grad scheme that rolls off into full term employment with the company. This means that anyone who does well during their placement has an excellent chance of being referred to the grad scheme meaning that there is a very clear and simple way into the organisation from these internships
The Culture
The social Scene was excellent among the other students on the internship as we were all placed in the same accommodation together meaning that there are always people to go out with. This meant that among interns there was somewhat of a "freshers" vibe with everyone keen to get to know each other and enjoy themselves when we were not working. Among colleagues there was also charity events and work drinks set up throughout the placement meaning that even within your team there was the opportunity to socialise
Socialising within London is incredibly expensive and every activity you do here will be pricier by some amount to elsewhere in the UK. However the pay you receive is a good amount and accommodation is provided by the organisation meaning that even though it is expensive you will always have money to enjoy yourself due to the free accommodation.
There was loads to do throughout the city and the transport system is excellent meaning you can get to lots of new places no matter the time and try out different things. there is definitely something for everything here meaning if you wanted to go out you'll have a good time.
As part of the internship you take part in a charity challenge to raise money for the organisations chosen charity that year. This means that outside of work there tends to be a wide variety of work organised charity events set up which are fun to head along to. This means that there are many new things to get up to after work as well as the many non-work related things you can do in London
