    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I highly enjoyed my placement as I was given a creative task where I was able to create something from scratch. I was given the ability to use my initiative to create some new ideas which could be implemented and had a great time improving ideas with my team.My placement was really enjoyable and I lloked forward to comingto work every day.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues supported me as well as treating me as if I'd always been in the office. I never felt like a new member of the team and felt like I had always been part of the team. I was allowed to join in team meetings and discussions. Thus, I highly enjoyed being in part of the team I was as my contributions were valued.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My whole entire team managed my placement really well and I was given a high level of support with weekly 1:1 and regular discussions with my manager to ensure that I am on track and I am comfortable with what I am doing and not highly stressed. My team worked well with me to ensure that the work load I had was suitable too.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I believe that I was very busy on a daily basis because, as soon as I entered the office there was always something for me to get stuck into. Whether it was answering emails, continuing a piece of work from the last day or doing something new I always felt as if there was something I could do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I believe that I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement which I valued quite I lot. I was able to make my own decisions and shape my own day with my own timings. Hence, I believe completing this internship made me more independent and understanding of the demands of working in the corporate world.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • During my internship I have to admit that I have learnt a lot and developed my skills a lot. During my internship I have learnt how to manage my time more efficiently and send work to other colleagues who need it on time. I have also learnt how to make more effective notes during meetings rather than writing every little thing down. As well as writing notes I have learnt how to communicate with other individuals more effectively whether it being written or verbal communication.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere it the office was amazing, I worked in a bright and vibrant office with lots of people on my floor. It was a friendly office where I felt like I knew everyone and was friends with everyone in the office too. This enabled me to easily get help from other people that I needed help from and made me feel more comfortable in my surroundings.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I believe that the internship was very well organised as you had a line manger which set you a task as well as support from the internship team. The internship team organise an induction to meet others in the scheme as well as sending emails throughout the internship informing you about future events which will be organised in the scheme.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was very good personal training and development that the company set up for you allowing you to complete a mini professional qualification whilst you are on the placement. There is also other training to help you learn all you need to know about the organisation to succeed. The training is very through and you are able to complete more training if you like and are not limited to the training given to you either.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • In this organisation there are great opportunities for further work and jobs with a graduate scheme and a variety of roles that you couldn’t think of. The organisation promotes employees to look for roles within the organisation and to get promoted in order to further enhance their skills. Thus, in an organisation like this you will never feel like the right job is not out there for you.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I believe that there is a great social scene with other colleagues and students as colleagues and students regularly go out for lunch with their teams or for days out with their teams and there are lots of team events in office too. However, if you do not like going out there are lots of in office social events for you to join into too.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I believe that the cost of living and socialising in the area that I worked in is very minimal and that the area provides a lot of low cost eateries and restaurants which are suitable for students. I am also aware that the cost of living in the area that I am currently in is quite cheap as you are able to travel and rent cheaply.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I am not an individual who experienced the nightlife in the area at first-hand. However, I am aware that the night life in Birmingham offers a lot for students and colleagues. It offers a wide variety of music tastes which caters for a large numbers of peoples preferences. The prices are also very reasonable for students too.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I believed that there was plenty of opportunity to get involved with things outside of work. The opportunities included volunteering, completing work for charity (which included fundraising, bake sales and cycling challenges). As an organisation there was always a lot which was going on and there was never a time where there was nothing extra to get yourself involved in. The organisation is full of lots of external activities.
