    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The internship at Barclays was my dream and it turned out to be an amazing experience. Every individual who was selected to be part of the Spring Programme was so unique and I am happy to connect with. I have learned a lot about the finance industry and my opportunities at the company

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt valued all the time. Everyone was very friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant and is in contrast of what I have heard from other students at my university who took part at the internship in the previous years. Employees took their time to get to know us interns

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was a lot of guidance. For instance, every intern gets a buddy who are typically an Analyst or Advisor. They are there for you during your entire time at Barclays and to help you find your way in the firm or help you to answer any questions that you might have.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learned a lot more about finance in general but I will not be very useful in my degree as it is a totally different area. However, I learned a lot of transferable skills and endurance as this internship was tougher than what I have imagined before starting the Spring Programme at Barclays.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The Spring Programme was very well structured and planned out. All activities were scheduled and left little breaks. I would recommend a few more breaks to get your mind right. On the bright side, you never felt bored and was always kept busy. This ensured to get the most out of internship.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was what I really I enjoyed. On the other hand, every other interns seemed to enjoy it. Everyone was not just focussed on ‘winning’ the advisors and employees which might be understandable if you want to secure a summer internship. However, no one really was this type of person, so it was quite enjoyable most of the time.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Extremely helpful. In talking with employees, being in the office/going through the different divisions and listening to the presentations will provide you with a great understanding of the company’s culture and what it is like to have a full-time position there. The short time at the company is definitely enough to see if you would like to work there.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 3/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Valuable. I have learned a lot about the daily life of an Analyst at Barclays and it is exactly what I want to do later in my life. I love the challenges it involves, the hard-working atmosphere and salary you’ll get for your work. I definitely want to later work for this company.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were quite a few opportunities to network with the employees. I have even sat down with an employee for a coffee and interviewed him and ask all my questions in my head. However, the employees will also take their time to hold presentation. This gives you always to the opportunity to connect.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • 4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would recommend this internship to my friends. Everything provided to you and even more. It looks great on your CV and LinkedIn and will boost your career opportunities. It is all about the prestige. However, it will also teach you valuable transferable skills and will paint a great picture of the finance industry.
