    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • i feel that I have been very lucky to have such a welcoming team. Both of my managers had a fair assessment of my ability and gave projects in line with that. I am continually challenged and thoroughly enjoy the communication I have with my team and the wider team. I have been able to ask questions whenever needed so I can provide a piece suitable to LBG standards and have enough autonomy to feel as though I am a trusted colleague who they believe can get the job done without holding my hand throughout.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • extremely. I don't think there is a a situation in which I feel undervalued as people are people and will treat you in the same way you treat them. A simple sign of respect goes a long way and everyone I have been lucky enough to come across thus far are of a similar appetite in that respect costs nothing and respect creates comfort and value on a base level. Beyond that, the trust and autonomy given, as aforementioned, has been one of the highlights of this placement as you do gain the feeling of being valued from these situations.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given such support as and when needed. The door is always open to ask the question because everyone understands that it is a learning experience above al and you do not yet have the necessary capabilities to see a project from end to end completely autonomously. I have a great working situation with my management hierarchy and they will always forward me to someone if it is not an question they can answer.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • as with any role there are peaks and troughs depending on project pipelines but that is where the initiative to ask if you do not feel worked enough to go and find something as you cannot expect anyone to be a mind reader. I've had some extremely busy days and some that were much more manageable but for me those extremely busy days are exciting and a great test to see your true capability under pressure. I have been very well balanced in my role and I must admit that is largely down to the care of the managers that I have been working under. They are a group that always seek for a balance based on being S.M.A.R.T. with targets and tasks which have allowed me to manage my time fairly fluidly.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • from my previous answers I think the mention of autonomy and the level of such is a testament to the responsibility that I was given. My team trust me that I will do whatever I can to my best ability and any shortfall is to do with experience and a knowledge gap with the short time that I have been in the team. I have been given much more responsibility than I could have ever imagined, and feel grateful for the opportunity to show my creative side in delivering projects.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My Intl. Business degree has been supported by this time in the scholarship greatly, not for this placement but from the last three years of involvement with the company. The WCM Boot Camp was a real highlight as it touched on a lot of business accounting study modules I have taken and have been able to stretch my knowledge with the refresher as well as stretching my knowledge further by looking at specific implementation strategy of a company with a pure focus on how important and beneficial effective WC management is to companies' sustainability.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • fantastic. The environment exudes calmness and I think that this as been an addition of value that the role has for me. I appreciate how everyone within my office has made me feel welcome. From the security greet in the mornings to the day to day queries and communication, it made the atmosphere become a big influencer in my work and my desire to try and go the extra step as much as I can.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I was very lucky in that my team already had a plan for me before I came in. I know this is not always the case, as found in my last internship, but the stability of management, their level of expertise, as well as the leadership and management traits of those I have worked with has been a positive takeaway and only helped the composition of the placement.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think they invested a more than fair amount of time in my personal progression. The only note that I would make for change is that training days in the latter parts of the internship should be more at the front end of the internship or stepped over time to give a better breadth of knowledge in the early days of the placement

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I truly believe that it is an exciting time to be part of the group as developments are ramping up all the time and continue to impress with the way they are no onger settling for a particular position in their market strands. The scaling ambition without irrational behaviour is a lot of value that I align myself with when I look at the outlook of company culture and being. It has been a company that has redeveloped itself over time and I think that any young banking enthusiast would see this as a company with the same ambition as oneself as university students are in a constant state of development and progression.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • definitely. the work/ife balance is something that has been thought out very well. putting all intern and scholars into the same accommodation has created an atmosphere that breeds social interaction and have been lucky enough to think that by the end of the placement, even if it doesn't work out as I wish, I have made some friends that carry a lot of similar morals as myself that wish for everyone to do as well as possible.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London life is expensive and of course you can expect those facets to mirror day-to-day life. If you manage your earnings effectively there is no reason that you can't enjoy yourself as well as any other.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • as aforementioned, London has a wealth of activity and this is another facet with a plethora of options.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • yes. The graduates were pivotal in the involvement process. Invitations to post work events have been a highlight in terms of feeling part of a group.
