The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Atkins. I worked on lots of different project and so the type of work was always changing which kept it interesting.
I was given a very warm welcome and was thoroughly helped with any questions I had. Within the first week I was already socialising with the office after hours.
I was given lots of guidance, especially when starting a new task. They were never too busy to help me when I had a question.
There was always work to be getting on with but it is not tied to a strict timeline and so you never feel rushed or stressed. It's enough to keep you busy whilst at the same time allowing you to get a snack or coffee whenever you want!
A significant amount but never so much that I felt under too much pressure.
I learned how to use multiple software packages which will come in very useful for my 3rd year of university.
The Company
Everyone in the office was very friendly, especially when I first started. Nearly everyone dresses down on a Friday.
The internship was very well organised, there was lots of email contact before an during the placement started so I was fully aware of everything that I needed to do.
Although I didn't receive any formal training, I was given brief software introductions by my co-workers which were more than adequate.
I am yet to find out about future employment prospects but I would definitely be interested!
The Culture
Yes, there was one big event that people from the whole office came to. There was also lot of smaller trips to the pub!
Standard Cardiff prices
Standard Cardiff nightlife
Chances to go the pub and to watch a sporting event on one occasion. However, no office sports teams to get involved with,
