The Role
This internship was absolutely fascinating. I was able to pick up many essential skills during my ten weeks here which I think will benefit me in the future. Everyone was very friendly and I had no problem fitting into the organisation. During my internship I was also able to organise charity events to help raise money for Mental Health UK which I really enjoyed.
My team was very friendly and I had no problem engaging with my colleagues. I was introduced to many other colleagues around the organisation and they were all very willing to speak to me to tell me more about their role and the organisation. I found people very approachable, even if they were higher up in the hierarchy which I am surprised about.
My manager is absolutely amazing. We have catch-ups every week to make sure that I knew I was doing and to see if I was being challenged enough. He is always there for questions if I have any. Always reachable and is very willing to teach me things about the department and skills which will be helpful for life.
It was the perfect balance - I wasn't stressed yet I was getting sufficient amount of work to keep me from boredom. My team understood that I am involved in a charity team challenge and allow me to allocate time for events which I have organised to raise money for Mental Health UK.
I was in charge of arranging the implementation of data remediation project from start to end. It was an eye-opener for me as I have never done anything like this before. Being in charge of managing the remediation over in the offshore team was an experience that can help me a lot in future career paths.
I was in charge of arrangement of the implementation of a data remediation project from start to finish. This was something I had never done before and I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to manage this project by myself with help from my team members to overcome difficulties I was facing.
The Company
It is a friendly environment where people knew each other and other colleagues were easy to speak to. You could always ask people for help and they are all very willing to teach. Even with staff higher up in the hierarchy were very approachable. It was easy fitting into the team.
Work given was of a sufficient amount, although sometimes I may need to ask for work as they underestimated the time required for the work. But when I am given work, it is of a level where it challenged my intellect and analysis skills. The work allows me to grow as a person and gain experience which will help me greatly in the future.
I have gained so many skills since the beginning of my internship. I learnt so much more about the team and allowed to pick up skills such as excel coding and SQL coding. Everyone is always there if I need any questions answered and will show me things I am unfamiliar with.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
I am very interested in working with Lloyds Banking Group in the future. This internship has allowed me to learn more about the organisation and I enjoy the culture in this business. It was very easy fitting into this organisation and work seems to be challenging. If I do get bored, it also seems to be very easy to change roles within the business. The flexibility staff gets is perfect.
The Culture
The charity team challenge certainly allowed friendships to be built within interns. Everyone seems very friendly and the office environment is nice, they all seem to know each other because of the hot desk system and it's very easy talking to other staff. Even if they're not on the same floor, office communicator allows conversations to be held nationally.
Lloyds understood that the living cost of London is not cheap, so I was provided with student accommodation only half an hour walk from the office. This was absolutely amazing in LBG's part. Socialising is expensive because it is in Central London after all, but LBG really helped interns out with the free accommodation.
It's central London so nightlife is thrilling. There is always something going on in the city and you can never get bored. Transport is also very convenient so even if I was getting home late, it was easy and safe to get back to the accommodation. The nightlife is perfect for people who like to do different things all the time because there are many different places to choose from in London.
Definitely - interns undertake a charity challenge to help raise money for Mental Health UK, which is a great way for interns to build a good network with others in the organisation.
