The Role
Overall, I really enjoyed my internship as the work was mostly interesting and the people were welcoming and friendly
I was always thanked for the work I was doing as it had helped someone out, but very occasionally I got the feeling that the work I did wasn't really valued
I always felt like I could contact my counsellor if I had any problems and my manager was always friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately for the first week and a half there were some issues meaning I couldn't do any client work so that was disappointing but once that had cleared up I felt the balance was good.
I was often sent to do tasks without supervision which felt like I had responsibility, but obviously these weren't massively important as I was an intern
I believe the skills I learned will be extremely valuable if I come to work in the profession, and will give me a great perspective on the real world of audit for my studies next year.
The Company
Friendly, welcoming, everyone seemed to get along. Wasn't a huge amount of out of work socializing but we did have a team lunch while I was there.
Sometimes I felt as though no one knew what to do with me, but I certainly got the impression work had been earmarked for me before I arrived, which was nice as I felt like I had a purpose.
The internship carries the prospect of a graduate job pending a review panel, so that is a considerable investment, although we weren't given any formal training for our chosen line of work.
Company Parties/Events
I would very much like to return
The Culture
Yes, the fellow interns kept in contact through a WhatsApp group as well as meeting for lunch sometimes. I personally enjoyed lunch with interns in my team most days of the week.
I was able to stay at my family home during the placement, which was lucky as the costs of socializing and living are relatively high
Enjoyable but expensive.
We had an organized social event which was really enjoyable but besides that not really.
