About You
It was amazing to see how I could use the knowledge and skills I have gained at university to real world situations in the workplace. I was given an in depth factory tour where I met many specialists who gave me an insight to their role in the production line and the company.
I was treated with respect and like a team member. I was invited to networking lunches and met many higher level staff.
My manager gave me lots of information about how to succeed at the company. I was continually offered support and was able to ask questions to anyone.
The insight gave me more information about what subject choices I should take at university to direct what areas I would like to specialise in. I also gained communication skills through meetings with high level management staff and staff on the production line.
The Company
A clear structure was emailed to me before the start of the insight outlining where I would be and what I would be doing. There was some issues with timings and some hicups but overall was well structured.
Amazing atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly and approachable. The company culture was great and very open.
Many staff members taught me new skills and provided an in-depth description of their role within the company. I also met with many high level management staff who were deeply interested in my development.
All staff members provided an amazing information about what it is like to work for Rolls-Royce. They enjoy the flexibility and informal approach the company takes and enjoy the many benefits of working for Rolls-Royce.
The insight allowed me instantly to understand the company culture. All Rolls-Royce employees are friendly, approachable and very easy to get on with. The culture is quite relaxed and focuses on great work, not how many hours you work.
It was extremely valuable. Although I loved my experience at Rolls-Royce, I now know I do not want to work on the factory floor. I would rather work in the process chemistry section as a process engineer, ensuring metal alloys are at the correct composition.
Everything Else
I had to pay my bus fare too and from the factory. I was provided with lunch everyday.
I had a few networking lunches and meetings with higher level management staff. I was given multiple tours through different departments and met lots of staff on the production line.
Very good. I was able to talk to people from multiple departments and gain insights Into their career and their career path.
This was not mentioned at all. I only saw a flyer for a fishing tournament and that was it.
It was a very valuable experience. It gave me an insight to where my degree could take me and what skill and subject choices I would need to become a skilled process engineer. It also allowed me to see what a great place it is to work for Rolls-Royce. The company culture is very informal and everyone is very approachable. It was a great experience and I would love to work for Rolls-Royce in the future.
