The Role
I quite enjoyed the internship, everyone was very friendly and welcoming and no one was too busy to help. However I didn't particularly enjoy the work I was doing, but this was personal preference, I found the work was quite admin-like which I didn't enjoy that much.
As an intern, wherever you work I don't think you're ever going to work on major projects, however the work I was doing did feel like it was going to make an impact after I leave.
There was so much support given, I had a buddy, a mentor and a manager. Also specifically in my team, I didn't work directly with my manager so I was reporting to someone else which meant I had another form of support I could turn to, if ever I needed help/
It really varied, during the first couple of works I wasn't too busy, but this wasn't a problem as Nomura has a Global Learning Portal so you could do some training on any topic you wanted. Towards the end of the internship it got really busy though, as there was a project I was helping on and also my shadowing I had organised earlier coincided in the same couple of weeks.
I'd say it was a good amount of responsibility. I was given the opportunity to co-run a presentation to my team which I thought was a big responsibility but I also had someone else there if I needed help.
I feel like the skills you develop here will really help me in the future whether it be at Nomura or elsewhere. You don't realise the skills you need in the working environment until you experience it and Nomura is a definitely a good place to develop these skills.
The Company
It was a really good atmosphere, everyone got along very well. Everyone is focused on their jobs so there isn't too much chatter. Also when there is a special event or just because people bring in sweet treats to share with everyone, so that's really nice and it changes up your day too.
The internship was set up really well by HR, there were many social events which were nice and the structure of the internship was known from the start which was nice as we knew how and when we'd be assessed. I think the details of the internship really did depend on what team you were in though as some people didn't seem very busy.
Seen as though I was only an intern, there wasn't much investment in personal training which is understandable. Development on the other hand was worked on, as during the mid internship review you had development areas which you were told about so hopefully you can improve upon them in the latter half of the internship

In Corporate future employment prospects are really good.
The Culture
The Corporate interns were all really nice, and we hung out quite a bit at lunchtimes and after work.
Well, in London the cost of living is quite high, but as I was already based in London it wasn't too difficult to get used to. The socialising aspect is the best as London is the Capital, there is so much to do. You could find something different to do each weekend and still have loads left. The issue is if you still have enough energy to explore the city after working for a week.
Haven't really explored the nightlife left in this specific area, but the nightlife in London is the best you can get. There are so many good clubs and not to mention the night tube and night buses are really good to transport you wherever you want to go and also Uber.
There were quite a few however as I am only here for 10 weeks, I didn't get involved with that many, but I know there's a football club.
