    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Put in the corner and made to do admin work with very little respect and no opportunities to try new things.

    1/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team I worked with made me feel very valued but people outside of this we're not welcoming at all and made me feel like an outcast.

    2/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given support by my direct manager but there was only so much she could do and the people above her we're useless despite me asking several times.

    1/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was busy but the work was so repetitive and unnecessary I was extremely bored on a daily basis. I dreaded monday mornings.

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • None, I realised the job I was given was not one that I enjoyed or wanted to pursue so asked if I could try other things but was just ignored and left to do admin work that a 10 year old could do.

    1/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Complete waste of time. Didnt help me with my degree. When I asked to go on various courses which I thought would be beneficial there weren't enough people in my team to cover for me to leave and so I didnt get anything out of the job that I wanted.

    1/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was very little interaction between people in the office. Aside from the team that I worked with I rarely if ever had an extended conversation with anyone. Poor morale in the company and lack of team building opportunities.

    1/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Extremely poorly. I got the impression that placement students we're basically hired for cheap labour and not given any opportunities except to sit at their desk and carry out mundane tasks.

    1/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Literally none. Did not go on any training programmes, despite asking. Just seemed as if the company we're not bothered about their employees.

    1/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • No way I'm going back there. Worst company you could possibly work for. They showed no interest in getting me to come back. No interest in their employees. Just on the whole a really bad company.

    1/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The one plus side of the year was the social life with the other placement students. With 25+ of us we had numerous social occasions on a weekly basis. This however was nothing to do with the company and was all organised by the individuals.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Quite expensive but that is expected in the South (Reading)

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Ok. Not many big clubs. The student union being the biggest. Good for bars, not so much for clubs.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Few if any. Some of us did the reading half marathon but again that was not something the company offered.
