The Role
Put in the corner and made to do admin work with very little respect and no opportunities to try new things.
The team I worked with made me feel very valued but people outside of this we're not welcoming at all and made me feel like an outcast.
I was given support by my direct manager but there was only so much she could do and the people above her we're useless despite me asking several times.
I was busy but the work was so repetitive and unnecessary I was extremely bored on a daily basis. I dreaded monday mornings.
None, I realised the job I was given was not one that I enjoyed or wanted to pursue so asked if I could try other things but was just ignored and left to do admin work that a 10 year old could do.
Complete waste of time. Didnt help me with my degree. When I asked to go on various courses which I thought would be beneficial there weren't enough people in my team to cover for me to leave and so I didnt get anything out of the job that I wanted.
The Company
There was very little interaction between people in the office. Aside from the team that I worked with I rarely if ever had an extended conversation with anyone. Poor morale in the company and lack of team building opportunities.
Extremely poorly. I got the impression that placement students we're basically hired for cheap labour and not given any opportunities except to sit at their desk and carry out mundane tasks.
Literally none. Did not go on any training programmes, despite asking. Just seemed as if the company we're not bothered about their employees.
No way I'm going back there. Worst company you could possibly work for. They showed no interest in getting me to come back. No interest in their employees. Just on the whole a really bad company.
The Culture
The one plus side of the year was the social life with the other placement students. With 25+ of us we had numerous social occasions on a weekly basis. This however was nothing to do with the company and was all organised by the individuals.
Quite expensive but that is expected in the South (Reading)
Ok. Not many big clubs. The student union being the biggest. Good for bars, not so much for clubs.
Few if any. Some of us did the reading half marathon but again that was not something the company offered.
