The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the FDM Group.
I felt very valued at FDM by colleagues of all levels. Senior Managers weren't afraid to trust me with important tasks despite being an intern. All my colleagues were very friendly and willing to help.
My manager(s) were always willing to take time out of their days to assist me in any way they possibly could. Staff of all levels were friendly and willing to help. FDM runs a mentoring programme which was very helpful when I initially joined the company, my mentor was fantastic.
I undertook daily tasks that were relatively constant throughout my internship. I was given tasks by various account managers which was quite nice as the work I was doing was quite varied. My days did vary in how busy I was but I never had nothing to do.
I was given quite a lot of important tasks right from the beginning of the internship. For example, I was in charge of gathering and writing the Weekly Sales Director Report after week 3.
I thoroughly enjoyed learning about how a large professional services company functions day-to-day and its the exposure that will benefit me significantly in the future. I picked up lots of technical and non-technical skills throughout my journey with FDM and will use these in my degree.
The Company
The FDM London Sales Floor had a very entertaining and playful atmosphere that suited the type of work that they do.
Very well organised considering they have only been running the formal internship programme for 3 years. Katherine, Kate and their recruitment team were fantastic in welcoming us to the organisation and sorting out what we will be doing for the 8 weeks.
We had the option to attend some skills training at the FDM Academy which was great for our personal training. We were also given some flexibility in what we decided to take on as projects.
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing, FDM likes having their interns come back and work for them after they graduate.
The Culture
Yes our group of interns got on very well.
The London office is based in London Bridge so it is quite expensive to socialise in the area.
Relatively alright but I didn't tend to go out in the office area.
We had the opportunity to organise an internship/placement social on the last week
