The Role
FDM Group is a professional and friendly work environment, with a positive atmosphere. I enjoyed the challenges within my day to day project work, and the internship group project.
My colleagues within my team were incredibly vocal about how much they valued us as interns. We had daily meetings where we would present our work to the team and they would give comments and feedback that I found really useful.
Every day we had team meetings where support was given throughout my time here. We also had meetings that involved people from other office locations in the UK. Me and the other technical intern in London each had a permanent staff member from our team, that we could ask if we had any problems, who were both willing to provide guidance to the best of their abilities.
I had a project that I worked on daily, with the other technical intern, doing different elements and collaborating to achieve the end result. This was along side an intern only group project across three locations that we were kept busy with.
The individual project was completely handed over to myself and the other technical intern in London, so we were able to have full responsibility within it, including managing our time, delegating the tasks, and documenting it.
I was trained in SQL and Excel which were both incredibly useful, and were applied within my individual project. I also developed skills in presenting and communicating affectively within a team. These skills will help me in my final year of university as well as further in the future when applying for graduate jobs.
The Company
Really friendly staff and everyone in the office was very welcoming and happy to chat.
The organisers were well equipped and ready for us to start working. Within my team it was very organised with the training that I received was well thought out.
The firm was happy to cater to my needs, I asked to have Excel training which I did get.
A future job is incredibly appealing to me, I have really enjoyed working in IT and will apply for a graduate job at FDM Group.
The Culture
We went on a team social in London, and they internship organisers have arranged a drinks event after work for our final week.
There is a high cost of living in central London, and socialising.
Lot's of bars and pubs in London Bridge.
