    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship, it was a great experience and one that I will cherish.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt like a valuable member of the sales team. I wish continually tasked with different tasks from week to week and always given the support that I needed.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was assigned a Mentor during the first week, which I had to meet with at least 3 times during the 8 week internship. These were 30 minutes to an hour, where I would talk about the problems that I was facing with my individual projects and the mentor would feed me back positive comments/tasks on how to deal with them.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy, not only was I given day to day tasks and projects, but I was also apart of a group project that would be presented to the board of directors in the final week. However it didn't feel like I was too busy, managers knew the perfect balance and accommodated for me.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • For the group project I was given a lot of responsibility, this was a project that wasn't man managed by the senior staff but by the group. For individual projects once again the senior staff set me a task, talked to me 1 on 1 before starting it so there wasn't any issues/problems and then expected me to complete by the deadline. However they were always there for support and advice if any issues arose.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills that I developed is organisation, leadership, determination and learning to think outside the box when issues arose. These skills will benefit me immensely, not leaving essays and revision till the last minute, learning to take the lead on group presentations at UNI and also just learning to deal with issues that arise and not run away from them and put them to 1 side like I used to.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a great atmosphere especially in the sales office if you're interested in the social aspect then on Fridays you would always be invited to go to the pub for a couple drinks after work.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was very well organised, the group project kept me busy and something to work towards as I was presenting to the board of directors.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given a trip to the Leeds office to go on a client site meeting which was all paid for, I've also been taken out to sporting events to meet and socialise with other members of the team, so I felt that FDM really tried to invest in me over the 8 week period.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have been offered a role as a brand ambassador at university along with this I've and also been given an interview to work for the company In the sales department once I finish my degree.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a good social scene between all of us in the London office, we went for lunch with each other and drinks after work most Fridays. However like most social experiences it what you make of it.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Expensive, but that's what you expect in central London. However you can bring in your own food, as there is a kitchen and eating area.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife is great, based in central London the office is situated near a lot of great pop up pubs and bars.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Once again its what you make of it, there are staff football teams on the sales floor which I joined by speaking to them about my love of football. So I played 5 a side football with sales team and they were very accommodating.
