The Role
The internship was hard work but well worth the effort. Everyone in the firm is so nice and very helpful. I was never made to feel unwanted or excluded.
Colleagues become friends very quickly, if your lucky to be on the same job for a few weeks you get to know your team very well and its like working with your mates rather than feeling that you are isolated.
Your team members constantly offer support and no question is a dumb question. They are always willing to help and give advice.
Just the right balance of busy that your day passes fairly quickly but not too busy that you are overly stressed and time pressured to an extreme.
You are given far more responsibility than you would think, and its definitely not a bad thing either. The first few days you get shown the ropes but from then on it is as if you have been in the firm for a while and are a trusted employee.
Going down the assurance line at EY has helped put any theoretical audit knowledge from university into perspective and gain a better understanding. Also, the knowledge obtained over the course of the internship will stand you in great stead for your final year studies. The skills learned will be widely applicable to any job, and are valuable for the foreseeable future.
The Company
The atmosphere was generally very upbeat and positive. Everyone is so friendly and chatty, yet to meet anyone who id want to avoid! Right balance of work and general chit chat to help you through the day.
Overall organization was perfect, very little stressing involved and everything is explained thoroughly so all your possible questions are answered.
EY were fantastic! They didn't just treat you as a junior who knew nothing, they valued you and your opinions and they want you to better yourself so stopped at nothing to help you. They give you plenty of opportunities to pick up experience that can be taken forward into your future. They set goals for you as well as you setting personal goals. Subsequently, they help you achieve these goals so that you are always improving.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
They are very open in saying that if you impress you will be taken on after the internship and actively talk about a future career with the firm. It is more in your hands about getting a job, ie if you are committed and hard working they would be more than happy to have you.
The Culture
Certainly for assurance, we chatted most days and kept up with each other. However, any other interns you barely see.
Very low.
Glasgow is renowned for its social activities so there were no issues here.
Yes, the firm advertises events and your colleagues are very inclusive and keen to get you involved in as many things as possible.
