    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • EY made me feel very welcome, They always had activities for us interns and made a great effort to help the interns bond as a group.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I sometimes felt that I wasn't being that useful as I didn't know a lot about tax and they spent a lot of time teaching me basic things.

  • Through the buddy and councilor system I felt I was given a lot of guidance and help.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I varied a lot, I never had a reason to stay beyond the end of the day. There were some days that I had quite a lot of capacity too.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Everything I did was obviously checked and corrected, but I was given the same responsibility as a grad.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a lot of general business skills and excel skills that can be transferable across all business lines.

  • Very Lively.

  • Pretty well organised. I panicked about the organisation beforehand but once I arrived it was all fine.

  • We had a lot of lunch and learns

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Everyone seemed to want to go out very often, everyone always had lunch together, There were also so many whatsapp groups.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It was Edinburgh so pretty expensive but less so than London.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • In Edinburgh the nightlife is really good, we went out a lot as interns

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • A reasonable amount, we were only there for six weeks but we organised social events for the team and I know some people helped on the EY futures programme
