The Role
The internship was very enjoyable, included multiple training sessions throughout the internship. The work I was involved in was core to the business and felt like I was making a difference whilst at the firm.
I felt valued by my colleagues within my team, they were always there when I had a question or needed help. However, when working with some parts of the bank other employees were reluctant to reply to emails.
There was extensive guidance by management and my supervisor, I had weekly one to ones with my manager which helped track my progress throughout the internship. There was also a mid placement review which gave you a more extensive update of the progress I had made.
There were some periods when I wasn't busy at all but some times where I had multiple tasks to work on, this aspect varied quite a lot with the work I was working on and often depended on other colleagues getting back to me with the required information.
I was given a lot of responsibility within the placement, having to create documents which would be sent to the clients so a lot of responsibility was given to me.
As I am studying Engineering and this was a banking internship the core training I learnt do not directly assist in my degree, however the commercial side of the placement will help in my career by assisting with presentation and documents etc.
The Company
The atmosphere at Lloyds was very supportive, everyone was approachable and more than happy to talk with you.
The internship involved an introductory conference at a hotel in London, also had a lot of communication throughout the internship called 'The development Journey'.
The company invested a lot by having senior employees run 2 hour training sessions throughout the internship.

The graduate program is very appealing as gives the opportunity to work in 4 different areas through four sixth month rotations.
The Culture
The cost of living in London is very high, however, Lloyds offers free accommodation in a nearby student halls.
There were multiple pubs and bars located near to the office.
In the first week our division had a sports day which was very enjoyable and a good pace to network with colleagues.
