The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my 6 weeks at EY and from listening to other interns experiences I can say that I am in no way an anomaly. I had the ability to work with some fantastic people whilst completing meaningful work. I feel that I was trained adequately and was given work which was hard but not so hard as to leave me feeling overwhelmed. Therefore for me, the internship was a huge success and I was extremely sad when it ended.
The best thing for me about working at EY has been the fantastic and diverse group of people that I was able to work with I got on extremely well with all of my colleagues, including those that I worked with directly and those which I only interacted with once or twice. Everyone was extremely welcoming and helpful and I would class the vast majority of the people I interacted with as friends.
I had regular supervisor meetings whilst on my internship (once every 2 weeks) and was constantly in contact with my manager / senior manager and senior associates. This enabled me to always have the ability to ask for further work and to get assistance when stuck. I was also able to learn a lot about their own careers and get advice for my own.
I was fairly busy on a daily basis, with my typical day being 09:00-18:00 including a 1 hour lunch break. I was able to get all of my work done during this time and always had the evenings and weekends free to whatever I fancied.
Quite a lot! I had to talk to clients and take on important tasks which made me feel like I was playing an integral part in the team.
I developed a lot of transferrable skills whilst working at EY. I improved my business writing and communication skills as well as my time management and organizational skills which will benefit me when I go back to university as well as in any future employment that I undertake. I improved my understanding of the business world (and the financial sector in particular) which will definitely serve me well in my future employment.
The Company
Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere although serious enough to allow people to concentrate and get the required work done.
Very well organized with an appropriate introduction, suitable work and frequent training opportunities and EY insights.
My seniors spent a great deal of time helping me to understand what to do and why I was doing it which greatly improved my experience. EY also provided us with lots of different training opportunities and insight sessions.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Extremely - I would love to come back and work at EY!
The Culture
I kept in constant contact with other interns from my office and met up with them all on several occasions for social activites.
Central London is a fairly expensive place but not extortionate if you are willing to look around.
London Nightlife is Amazing!
There are lots of different social groups and committees which EY offer that it's employees can sign up to!
