The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my six week placement at EY. It was a great insight into the company and the work they do and also the social side of working in a consultancy.
I felt incredibly valued as an intern. I was never expected to run and make coffee but in fact contribute and be part of the team. Perform and collaborate with other team members and get a proper insight into project work.
I felt well supported at EY. I was given a buddy, as an informal point of contact, and also a counsellor to ensure that I was making the most out of my placement. All the members of staff are incredibly helpful and are always willing to support you.
On this internship I was given a checklist of things to do. These tasks were a great way to ensure I was getting a wide variety of tasks (researching, shadowing, data analysis). As well as this, I was on a project but everyone understands that you are only an intern, so they support you in balancing your workload.
As an intern, it is hard to establish yourself in a position of responsibility, however I was given some responsibility with respect to client interaction.
I feel that this internship was excellent in developing my soft skills, from office etiquette to time management, which will be incredibly useful in day to day life.
The Company
The offices in EY are a great place to be. Everyone is incredibly friendly and the open plan hot-desk fashion makes it great to interact. People obviously do get on with work, but there isn't much of a stressful atmosphere.
Apart from some hiccups when starting, the whole placement ran quite smooth. I was always aware of where I had to be and logistics were always communicated in advance.
EY most definitely does invest in personal training and development. In a six week placement, it is quite hard to witness this, however we were organized to attend lunch and learn sessions.

The Culture
It is all depending on the cohort that you are in, but EY definitely help to organize socials to help you bond with other interns.
Being in London is always an expensive experience.
N/A
There are tons of opportunities at EY, from sports clubs to corporate social responsibility days.
