    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Everyone was extremely pleasant and good at their jobs, they all took time to answer any questions I had.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • They were great but I was always worried I was dragging them down because I was slow at my work and had to ask lots of questions.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • It was very good, I felt my buddy would get irritated if I asked a lot of questions though which is fair enough.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had to actively seek out work to keep busy.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was working in a smaller office so I think I got more responsibility than an intern in a bigger office due to a lack of staff.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My excel general Microsoft suite skills have vastly improved and they will carry on into the future. I didn't have any client contact and I never sent emails to anyone other than the team so I don't feel I have improved my professional skills. I also had the chance to do a presentation and research into companies which I can see being useful skills when I return to university.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • A weird mix of relaxed and stressed, everyone is friendly and pleasant though.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I feel it was relatively well organised, the main issue was the lack of work but I just think that was due to me interning during the quite period of the year and not any fault in planning.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were a lot of WBL and Webinars, only a few were useful in all reality, the biggest issue I have faced with EY is its outsourced IT which in 6 weeks couldn't sort out all the softwareI needed to do my job which meant I missed out on experiencing parts of what a graduate would do.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very, its a great company and it has a solid reputation. Its graduate programme seems gruelling but it produces solid CAs.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was the only inter in my service line, I spent time with the interns in other departments though and we went out together during the internship. I think life is much more social as a grad. Everyone here seems to only really hang out with their own year group or level within the firm.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The city I live in is expensive to rent in but I was staying with my family so it didn't affect me. The price of going out and socialising or shopping is the same as everywhere else though.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 3/5
