The Role
Overall found the internship really rewarding and the people you meet are really what makes the place great.
I felt to the extent I was not qualified in anyway I was still given work which was going to be seen by clients and in that regard I felt valued and people asked my opinion on matters too.
The support network is really important with a buddy and counsellor in place and further support by our SIP team was on hand too.
It varied a lot and at the start work was hard to come by but it did pick up once you started speaking to more people and building a network.
Enough responsibility as I did work on things which were going to be seen by clients and I was able to work with senior people on the team which was great.
People and network building is the biggest takeaway from this experience as I really value how important it is to build good relationships with your colleagues.
The Company
Atmosphere in my team was great and more relaxed than I expected. It was probably helped by the fact that it is a quieter time for insurance. None the less it was lively and everyone was really nice and friendly.
This is an area which could be improved as no work was set out for us so from day 1 we were placed in our teams and had to find work. This was difficult as it was a quiet time so finding stuff was not easy.
In this capacity the firm invested a lot with 2 separate induction days (general and tax specific one) as well as on the job training and courses to complete.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
There is a clear progression system in place which rewards those who are hard working which is a great part of the way EY works.
The Culture
Amongst our team we were lucky as we had a big summer social, football and drinks organised. Our internship team did not organise anything apart from on the last day however and this was a let down but our tax intern cohort did organise things ourselves.
Costs are high with meals costing £15-20 typically
Have not experienced it so can't comment.
Not a lot but volunteering opportunities did come about.
