The Role
It was challenging but exciting; there was always alot going on so it gave a true insight into the world of business.
The people were all friendly and welcoming; I felt like a valued member of the company from day 1.
I was assigned a buddy, who was a trainee in the same service line, who I could go to for guidance and just for a chat! My time there was reviewed in an appraisal process carried out by my line manager, who gave good advice and and was always approachable.
Some days were busier than others, but in the quieter periods I was always given some form of task, whether it be attempting a tax computation or researching a company.
I was given a lot of responsibility from day 1 and treated like an employee of the firm and not just a placement student!
The skills I gained will be invaluable: interpersonal skills when interacting with clients, time management and organisation and also interview tips.
The Company
Friendly and chatty with open plan seating so everyone could talk to eachother when neccessary...but also hardworking and focussed. The pool table in the staff room was an added bonus!
Extremely well organised: I was given a personal timetable that could be fit around my own preferences; for example I asked to spend a day in another dept. and this was sorted straight away.
I was treated as an employee and thus went through all the introductory training that they have to. I spent 2 days at Bradenham Manor - their own training centre, which was great fun! I also completed a CSR day in London with the other interns.

I have been offered and taken a graduate position!
The Culture
Yes, we went out together a few times, went bowling and for (plenty) of drinks.
Oxford is quite an expensive place to live but there are plenty of student areas where housing is alot cheaper...and the clubs aren't too costly!
I live in Oxford so know the nightlife pretty well, and it's what you would expect from a lively student city.
Social events and sports events were always happening - the majority of the office travelled to Leeds one weekend for an inter-firm football tournament1
