The Role
This internship is really enjoyable for me. It has exceeded my expectation both in the work responsibility and social aspects.
My colleagues entrusted me with a few projects where I'm given a lot of room for independent thought and the opportunity to value-add.
Generally, the people in M&G are very approachable and the structure is rather flat. People are always willing to answer questions and spend time explaining things whenever I approach them. This is especially so in my team where I'm given support and guidance from day 1.
This is very much dependent on your team, your projects and the respective deadlines. Usually, I'm out of the office by 6pm but there are some days where I stayed till 9pm, although this is really rare.
As mentioned above, I was given quite a lot of responsibility during the internship.
While the skills that I have developed might not be directly relevant to my studies, it has definitely broadened my understanding of the financial world and allow me to appreciate the financial theories better.
The Company
Friendly and collegiate culture
Very well organised in terms of interview, induction & socials.
While there was not much external training and development given the short stint I'm here for, I was given the opportunity to learn credit analysis and how to use Bloomberg.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Strong culture of advancement and internal promotion - people who work at M&G tends to stay here for a long period of time.
The Culture
Definitely, I had on average 2 social events per week.
