About You
EY is and has always been my favourite firm and hence I had lot of expectations. Luckily, none of these lead to me being left disappointed. I had a great experience, learned a lot and made lots of new friends. I became hands-on insights into what it is like to work with them and this is exactly what I wanted!
I felt really valued overall. I was astonished about how much time people spent with us, considering their opportunity costs of doing that. My internship was inventively organised. Hence, I had a lot do to and learned a lot. Despite some exceptions, everybody was nice to me and eager to help.
During my internship, I received a lot of guidance. I had a lot of time to talk to my contact persons which would always be helpful and even provide more insights than required. I was allowed to approach high-level managers as well which is what I did on a regular basis in order to get personal questions answered.
I developed extremely many different skills. While university is giving you the general concepts, an internship is really providing the opportunity to be practical and actually make use of what you have learned at uni so far. I can only speak for myself but EY is doing a really good job at making you learn the right things.
The Company
As a result of my previous answer, the structure of my experience was a really good one. I never felt bored or too stressed. It was just the right level of work load and I realised that I did not only have to deliver results but I was encouraged to network and allocate time for personal development.
I cannot speak about how the atmosphere is in comparison to other internships, but it was definitely an enjoyable experience. You can tell that the current employees who spoke to us loved their job and cherished being there. The other interns all came from different universities and it was a great opportunity to exchange.
The company has invested many resources in me and I can imagine that this was not very cheap. We got presentations about career opportunities, activities were designed to get a feel for the department you applied to, senior managers took their time to get to know you and so on. Hence, the company invested a lot and I am thankful for this opportunity.
It has helped me a lot to decide what I want to do later in my life. I was not sure if I want to go into marketing, accounting or finance. Hence I gave it a shot to try out what a career is like at EY. Surprisingly I got the internship without much effort and I can envision a career at the company.
The Insight Programme at EY was very beneficial and showed me what it would be like to work there. The atmosphere was professional yet laid-back and everyone seemed to love what they are doing. Especially the chats with employees and managers were helpful to get a feel of what employees actually think about working at EY.
Everything Else
Yes, for sure! Anyone who thinks about going into audit will love this internship and will broaden your horizon. Furthermore, you can build great relationships and build up your network. It will be only interesting for people who plan to pursue a career in audit but it is still a great opportunity to meet motivated individuals.
