About You
The internship at Lloyds was my dream and it turned out to be an amazing experience. Every individual who was selected to be part of the Spring Programme was so unique and I am happy to connect with. I have learned a lot about the finance industry and my opportunities at the company
I felt valued all the time. Everyone was very friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant and is in contrast of what I have heard from other students at my university who took part at the internship in the previous years. Employees took their time to get to know us interns
Staff were always there and ready to help if needed. There were always people around you to ask. This was personally important for me because at sometimes I felt lost and was happy to talk discuss some stuff with the advisors. So there is nothing to worry about and you’ll always be supported.
I have learned a lot more about finance in general but I will not be very useful in my degree as it is a totally different area. However, I learned a lot of transferable skills and endurance as this internship was tougher than what I have imagined before starting the Spring Programme at Llyods.
The Company
The internship is very well structured. Nevertheless, I do think that the first week was way busier and it calmed down a little in the second week where I had much more leisure time. It is structured in way, that you will get a taste for different divisions and then you can kind of specialise depending on your preference.
Everyone seemed very friendly and open to meet new people. This has made socialising for a shy person like me very easy and to meet new people. Employees even approached you and seek to get to know you better. It was a pleasant experience and the atmosphere had good vibes only. Although it was professional all the time, there was no feeling of pressure or competition at any time.
The company Lloyds has invested a lot to prepare and organise this internship. Everything was well prepared and structured. Employees, graduate and senior managers have taken their time to talk with all of us. All of the things were provided and their presentations were extensive and specifically tailored to our needs as first year students
I have always wanted to go into investment banking and this internship only strengthened my endeavour to do so. I love the financial industry and the rewards for working at a prestigious bank. I cannot wait to finally graduate and pursue a career. The presentations about the company, seeing employees in action etc. were all helpful to get a good feeling of the company.
A lot. I got to know the employees and see the working culture at the office. It was not what I expected but enough to learn more about the culture. Especially the presentations were really helpful and gave hints about the chances of an individual to move the corporate ladder up. But in my opinion I didn’t like the to somewhat stereotypical investment banker lifestyle with over hours etc.
Everything Else
I would recommend this internship to my friends. Everything provided to you and even more. It looks great on your CV and LinkedIn and will boost your career opportunities. It is all about the prestige. However, it will also teach you valuable transferable skills and will paint a great picture of the finance industry.
