    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I generally enjoyed the internship. The company is a nice place to work in and people are nice but there are a few things I would improve.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everybody in the office is very friendly and always willing to help.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager is amazing, very flexible and gives me meaningful and interesting work to do.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I would say I was more bored than too busy. I didn't really have any crazy busy days, but it sometimes happened that I wasn't given enough workload and didn't really know what to do during my working time.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was responsible for important improvements within my division therefore I feel like my work was really meaningful.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I am sure that the project and time management skills as well as networking skills will be very useful in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • People were friendly and willing to chat. Some more than others, but that's the case everywhere.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I would say that the overall organisation of the internship was good. What I didn't like was the fact that I lived in a different city and worked in a different town. The commute took 3 hours each day and I wasn't given an opportunity to work from home like other interns. I feel that I would enjoy my internship much more if it wasn't for the long commute. Also, I feel that it would make it easier if all interns were given photo badges instead of temporary badges as there was always a problem when travelling to other offices/wanting to work from other offices. One of the interns I know was given a photo badge but the rest of us weren't.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think that the company gave me very good networking opportunities. I was able to speak to many different people located in different offices in the UK (that often involved travelling) which I really liked.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would say that the opportunities are quite good. For permanent employees, it is a very friendly organisation. Flexible working hours and the possibility to work from home would definitely make it a good place to work in. Also, there are many division and teams here which are located throughout the UK, therefore everybody would find a role in a city that would work for them.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I know that other interns went out together. Never really went out with them though as I had my own circle of people to socialise with.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cheaper then where I go to university so I was quite happy about that.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • No in the area I worked in but lived in. I had to commute 1.5 hours one way to work each day. Obviously didn't have time to go out too much during the week cause I spent 3 hours commuting. But generally in the city I stayed in there were many bars and clubs.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, all interns had to get involved in the charity challenge in which we raised many for Mental Health UK and raised awareness of the mental health issues. Sometimes we would go for lunch together with the team, but that was only in the other offices that I was visiting, not the main office were I was based.
