The Role
My internship so far has been very enjoyable. It is relatively easy to do the job when you get along well with your co-workers, enjoy seeing them everyday, and feel valued by them. It was great meeting some of the amazing people too, I have had a good experience so far.
My team was very welcoming and are easy to talk to and approach for any of my queries (and as an intern, I had a few!). I believe that I fit in very well in the team, and have become really good friends with everyone. We all have mutual interests so naturally, once we started to discuss these, we never looked back.
I believe that I was very much given the support and guidance from my supervisors. I believe that my line manager was there every step of the journey and it was easy to approach her for feedback/guidance when I had to. She also trusted me with projects and gave me responsibility, which helped me feel valued as well.
I considered some days as more busy than others. I was given tasks to do at my own pace so it was up to me on how best to manage my time. I also tried to network with as many people in the organisation as possible, which meant that some days, even if I did not have too much work, I had a lot of meetings.
I would not say that I was running the show, but my line manager did give me a fair bit of responsibility, which I appreciated. I was involved in projects that were to be presented to Exco and I knew that I had an important part to play in its success.
I definitely found my internship useful in this regard, There are many things that I can incorporate into my personality to build my character. I also believe that I've become a more confident person as a result of my internship, which I think is important as well. HR organised many activities for us, which were all fantastic to attend,
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was very enjoyable. With L13 being a more relaxed floor than some of the others, it was a nice place to work. The people around me were all very friendly and easy to get along with, which is important in this regard as it created a friendly atmosphere. I really enjoyed coming into work everyday, which made the job much easier too.
I considered the internship to be well organised. Obviously, there are some concerns over the SRP Ring Fenced Bank, which has complicated things (such as what the graduate scheme will look like), but HR did their best to work around that, and that has to be appreciated. Before we started our internship, we were told who our line manager would be and our role, which allowed us to get to grips with what we would be doing before we started our internship,
The firm invested a fair bit in us. At the end of the day, HR hope that being here on the summer internship means that you'll also be here for the grad scheme, and with that in mind, they organise a lot of events to ensure that we develop. Furthermore, you learn a lot on the job too - the learning curve is quite steep.

The future employment prospects are very appealing. The best part of the organisation is that you can move around and work in any division, which is useful for someone like me, who do not have a concrete idea of what divisions within banking interest us. As such, working in various divisions is very appealing to me as it allows to me understand what interests me.
The Culture
There was a very good social scene amongst the interns. We used to go out for drinks every Friday after work, which was quite fun as you got to meet new people each time. We were able to build upon our network and get to know people outside of our division, which was useful.
