The Role
I enjoyed my placement at HSBC, the work was relatively varied especially given that you do 2 placements within 1 internship. The work environment was friendly and supportive.
Everyone is very friendly and willing to help, people were always willing to have a chat about there experiences and roles.
Weekly check ins with your manager allows you to monitor and develop your progress.
There is a good work life balance, the work set allows you sufficient time to complete it to a high standard as well as do other additional work on the side to develop.
I was given various responsibilities which are often performed by higher graded members of staff and there was plenty of opportunity to do useful and interesting work.
I got my first taste of financial analysis which will be a valuable skill going forwards and my excel skills have improved significantly due to my internship.
The Company
The office was very relaxed and friendly with no set seat you could move around and speak to other people.
The internship programme is run centrally with plenty of information about the internship being given out. There were several events and days which were planned which have been fun and well organised.
I feel HSBC values you as an intern and views you as a strong candidate to return for the Grad Scheme and people think of highly of your skills and will give you their time and will also provide work which is interesting and challenging.
Company Parties/Events
The Grad scheme sounds interesting and varied and further on opportunities seem to be broad for graduates.
The Culture
There were several events run for all the interns nationally including an induction weekend and other days. Furthermore there were several other interns in my office and we would go out for lunch and drinks from time to time.
Relatively inexpensive.
The nightlife is good enough.
There was some opportunity in terms of outside networking events and socials
