The Role
The internship is extremely enjoyable experience. A lot of support and guidance is given throughout by both HR and others. Furthermore, colleagues are more than welcoming.
I found myself on a team that gave me the opportunity to have ownership over my own projects and so they valued my inputs and I was allowed to enhance my knowledge through making suggestions alternate to my managers and discussing all the options that we have when producing deliverables.
Management is very hands on in all aspects of the internship. Group heads encourage interaction between all employees regardless of seniority. This allows for a much more integrated atmosphere allow interns to work directly with MD's and D's.
Demands of the business vary. However, I was always considered to be staffed on new projects, if I wasn't busy. Good dialogue between myself and my manager meant that he always knew when I had down time and he would try to staff me on projects which would allow me to develop a new skill set and knowledge base to the last project,
As there are no analysts on my team I was given a lot of responsibility regarding projects. I would submit books directly to senior bankers and so would have the responsibility of ensure the book is up to scratch before it gets checked to go out to the clients.
As I study finance, a deeper understanding of the financial markets, financial modeling and general company and business strategy helps me put the theory learned in my degree into a more practical context.
The Company
Everyone is welcoming and social, but at the same time take the job very seriously. This is a good balance of hard work and enjoyable down time.
I think it was pretty organized.
Training being only a week, isn't a very long time. However, I am a person who preferred learning by doing so was eager to get on the desk and start working. So this was fine.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Very. I would take the offer if I were to receive one.
The Culture
Yes, we get a lot of time together and try to eat together where we can. This makes for a good environment to network and share ideas and experiences.
It's London. but I lived with parents so was affordable (free).
London has places for everyone. Personally I think London nightlife is among the best.
yes there were CSR opportunities and various other things. Though attendance is subject to work demands so I didn't attend all.
