The Role
Very useful learning experience. Team was willing to give up time to explain ideas and provide feedback on my work. I learned programming, how to pitch trade ideas, and had the chance to interact with international teams.
I felt that I was valued by colleagues, as they were willing to spend time explaining ideas, and generally treated me as an equal, despite being an intern
Often said my work was up to a good standard, which was pleasing. Even more important was that they were willing to give up the time to critique my ideas, and provide written and verbal feedback
I was very busy on a daily basis. Average working hours: 8AM - 9PM
My work was published more times than I can count, and I had the opportunity to contribute to thematic work. In addition I was given access to confidential data sources.
Skills I learned: Macroeconomic analysis Foreign Exchange analysis and models Programming (python) As far as I am aware the internship program does not lead to assistance beyond the time period of the internship.
The Company
Most of the time, atmosphere relaxed and conducive to productive work
Relatively badly organised by HR team as this was the first year of Macro Research interns.
Gave me opportunity to speak to many different teams, shadow them working etc. I got the chance to meet 5 members of senior management as well
Flexi Time
Financial Bonus
Compensation and growth opportunities are appealing
