The Role
I enjoyed my 10 weeks at this organisation. The Japanese culture is something that really stood out to me. As an intern I was encouraged to meet with Senior staff as well as being able to voice my opinions in team meetings when necessary.
I felt valued. Granted, being an intern I was relatively inexperienced however there was always someone to turn to when I needed help and at the same time I was given responsibility on a wide range of tasks.
I was assigned a buddy before arriving at MUFG. I interacted frequently with my buddy to discuss ways in which I could Improve myself and to discuss my future career path. HR at MUFG were particularly, they organised Lunch and Learn sessions with different senior members throughout the organisation which was great as it gave the interns an insight into the career paths of senior staff. Additionally, there were frequent networking events of dinner and drinks throughout the 10 weeks.
The workload varied on a daily basis. When I was not busy I organised coffee meetings to gain exposure to different people in the organisation.
A relative amount of responsibility given that I was an inexperienced intern.

The Company
The general atmosphere was very calm and welcoming. Overall the people working in the office were very open to questions and were always willing to help.
HR meticulously planned the internship. Interns were constantly given talks by senior employees as well attending networking events throughout the programme
The first week was an introductory training week whereby interns received a tailored training programme. After this week, there were other opportunities for interns to find out more about development opportunities throughout the organisation.
The bank is undergoing a transformation in order to become a global player. I think entering the company now could potentially bring great future opportunities.
