The Role
I had a great summer; I would like to pursue a career with UBS. I enjoyed learning and interacting with colleagues.
Everyone made a real effort to make me feel welcome and involved. They also took time to explain concepts and answer questions. I felt very supported through-out my internship.
They gave me a good amount of feedback. They took the time to explain projects to me and to correct my work. I also felt that they made a real effort to make the work interesting.
I was busy. I felt that there was always more to do if I wanted to work. People made themselves available and set interesting tasks. I would say most of my time was spent meeting people. I don't think I contributed much to the desks but I learnt a lot.
I think that's to be expected though; I didn't have any qualifications specific to the job. I had tasks to do and deadlines to meet which were stressful but
I haven't returned to Uni yet. I would imagine that my time management will have improved significantly. I'm more enthusiastic than ever about starting work. I also learnt how to present myself and act appropriately (in a professional manner)
The Company
Really friendly and welcoming. Everyone made time to speak to me and give me the opportunity to get involved in their desk. Everyone was very supportive and encouraged learning.
The organisation was fantastic; I don't think there would have been time for any more events to take place. We had multiple teach-in sessions, speaker events, trading games and other activities. I really appreciated the exposure to different areas.
I felt that they made an effort with me from the start. Even before I was accepted on the internship I was put in contact with someone from UBS. At that stage I was very grateful for anything that wasn't an automated email. Through-out the process I felt that there was always someone that I could reach out to. They provided endless learning opportunities and networking opportunities.
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
They seemed pretty good although headcount was never mentioned. I felt that if I performed the opportunity to get a job was there.
The Culture
People made an effort to invite interns to social events and include them in lunches, dinners etc.
The work placement was in the city in London... But the salary was good enough to be able to afford it.
Again it was in the centre of London, provided the funds were there it was great!
The job took up most of my time so I didn't feel the need to seek out extra opportunities. There were a few social events and nights out organised.
