The Role
I really enjoyed my internship. The variety of exposure was really fantastic. Although I was focused on a primary project, I felt as though I could contact anyone during my time here and learned a lot about other areas of the business too. The Junior Talent Team were incredibly friendly and supportive, and organised great events to retain connection between other interns in other departments.
It honestly varied depending on what tasks I had to complete. A lot of my work was self-managed, so I was able to manage my own time and balance networking meetings with working on my actual project. I personally really liked being in charge of my own team, as I knew my team trusted me to complete my work on time and respected that I had other tasks to complete during my internship.
My task was quite a big project so the overall project I worked on did have a big impact on the team. However, my focus within the project was fairly targeted, so I felt as though my work was meaningful without it being unachievable due to the scale of the task.
The Company
My team were fairly busy, especially as it was during the holiday season lots of people were away so they had to cover for others too. Additionally, when I arrived at my team they were going through some changes too so it was a fairly turbulent time. However, this was great exposure to what the business is actually like, and although initially I saw it as a challenge, I came to saw it as a valuable experience
The Junior Talent team ran a great variety of events and sessions to keep all the interns connected even through we were spread across the company. There were smaller networking events, and bigger ones too throughout the internship. Additionally, I enjoyed the ESG intern skills exchange programme run alongside the internship as this helped me connect with people in other business areas on a professional level.
The company fully invested in me during my time here and I felt incredibly supported. It was great as I was able to get involved in everything that full time employees can too, including volunteering and soft skills sessions. The attitude of the company is great, they do really want you to stay here following your internship and make that clear throughout.

In my area, further employment opportunities are pretty high. I know that generally speaking the employment retention for interns to graduates is higher with control functions and back office as opposed to front office, where they hire many more interns and is thus more competitive. The attitude throughout the internship is that they are training you to start a career in the company, which is reiterated constantly.
The Culture
It was pretty good, although I lived at home during my internship so had conflicting commitments so didn't go out very often with fellow interns. However, I feel as though I had a good balance, we did sometimes go out for drinks/dinner/lunches etc., although it did become a little more competitive towards the end of the internship with all the impending job offers which is only natural.
Very high as it was central london
very expensive!
One of my favourite things about working here is the extra activities available outside my project work. There is a great atmosphere in the in-house gym, they really encouraged us to get involved in volunteering, and there are lots of employee networks which are very easy to access and I felt very welcomed by.
